The world wide awareness to save the mother nature has poured light on natural
dyeing. Research and development have been going on in different dimensions to
cater the needs of natural protection and customer needs. On the one hand the
customers are well accustomed to sophistication of modern life but at the same
time wish to protect the environment by way of using natural bio degradable
products. These changes have brought about so many drastic changes in the use
of natural dyestuffs and organic products.
Natural Dyeing/ Dyes as the name suggests is being done from natural
resources such as plant barks, roots, leaves and stems. The extract of these plant
components are applied over the natural fibers such as cotton, linen, jute, wool, hemp etc., to produce natural shades. The application techniques, the dyestuff
preparation methods, the properties of dyed materials vary shade to shade. Researchers are focussing on giving better performing natural colorants and so many
developments have already been reported.
