Reactive Brill Blue R - Economical & Best method of dye

Home >> Textile Dyeing-1

There are so many methods of dyeing this particular dyestuff, time to time advised by eminent people in this industry, to achieve maximum colour yield and all round fastnesses.  But after a short while due to some change either in the quality or in the application technique, every dyeing master used to suffer from non-reproducibility of shades using this particular dyestuff.

One Mr.P.Arumugam, the dye house in-charge of M/s Suriya Textile Processor, Bhavani, Erode, has discovered his own unique new textile processing technique that can be tried by those  using Jiggers or short liquor ratio dyeing machines.

The new dyeing technique is very simple and almost a cold dyeing method. Here below he has given the details of the dyeing procedure.

After scouring and bleaching, neutralize the fabric thoroughly and check for residual peroxides.

Dissolve and filter the dyestuff solution. Add the dye solution in to the machine in two installments.

At room temperature,

  • Add 1/2 portion of Salt + 1/2 portion of soda ash - run 1 end.

  • Add 1/2 portion of Salt + 1/2 portion of soda ash - run 1 end.

  • Run 1/2 hour at room temperature.

  • Add 1/2 portion of Caustic Soda - run 1 end.

  • Add 1/2 portion of Caustic Soda - run 1 end.

  • Raise temperature to 40°C, run 45 minutes and finish dyeing.

Recipe - for 4% depth of shade

  • Salt                        = 80 gms. /liter

  • Soda                      = 10 gms./liter

  • Caustic soda flakes = 1 gm. /liter 4

Do neutralization, soaping and washings as usual.

Remarks:

You will get improved rubbing and wash fastness properties in addition to an improvement of depth to about 20 to 30% than the normal dyed material.

If proper scouring and bleaching has not been done, there may be a possibility of getting surface dyeing with poor fastness properties.
